Rehearsing...

I do believe we had just about the easiest wedding rehearsal anyone could ask for. Everything went so well and we had so much fun eating with our friends and family at HuHot. On top of that, decorating was a breeze with the help of my girls and the Neals.

They just couldn't resist

Rehearsal lunch at HuHot with all of our family

If possible, I do recommend having a “rehearsal lunch.” It worked out really well for us. We were able to decorate in the morning have a relaxing lunch; have a smooth rehearsal and then a nice dessert time together afterwards.

I am really grateful we had such a wonderful bridal party. Everyone was so easy going and our families helped out so much.  We we’re so blessed to have our cousin Jimmy there to capture all of these memories.

Back to Basics

It is finished!
Finally after months of planning, my wedding day has come and gone. I can safely say that overall it was a big success. Every detail and DIY touch was well worth it.

Now that I can finally step back and take a breather from all the madness that is wedding planning, I can post the entire goings on of the days leading up to January 5, 2013.

First and Foremost: A backdrop is essential!
The most memorable and sentimental pictures you will take are the actual wedding ceremony pictures.
Your walk towards your groom, the vows, the rings; these are all key moments of your wedding. Yes, the focus will be on the two of you but you also want to be aware of what is being captured behind you. Having a visually stimulating backdrop will be a great asset to all of your wedding day photos. With a little hard work and creativity, you can come up with the best option to suit your wedding.

For us, we started working with the materials we already had. We used flats (giant canvas covered backdrops that were used for our dramatic productions in high school). From there we set to work on painting them a basic white.

My first idea was to use doilies and simply spray paint over a cluster of them to make a sort of vintage snowflake effect. Little did I know that such a small doilie, on such a large surface would appear to be nothing more than childish shapes from afar.
So we decided to rethink our objective.

Enter the lace tablecloth........ We simply laid the lace over the canvas and meticulously sprayed the gray over top. It was no easy task but my wonderful bridesmaids and mom helped me out greatly.

Multiple one "lace" flat by 8, through in your rustic door and you have a backdrop!

And this is only the beginning....
