The many months before the wedding involve getting ready.
You are planning, organizing and anticipating, but nothing could prepare you
for the morning of your wedding. Those few hours are do or die. There is no
more getting ready…. You just have to be ready and there is a sweet peace in
knowing there is nothing more you can do and you simply must go with the flow
and be calm.
Thankfully anything that could go wrong with our wedding had
already happened, so I was not anticipating much drama the day of. Such
examples are: Our nail salon where we had booked appointments months ago,
burned down. One of our groom’s men who shall remain nameless…. (*cough* cough*
Andy Steiner) unknowingly allowed his mother to give his wedding attire away to
goodwill. My wedding dress was not ready until 2 weeks before the big day. Also
a snowstorm had recently passed through the area and we were now in the clear.
Yes, everything seemed to be smooth sailing from here on out.

I truly felt calm now and it really was a great morning of relaxation
and prepping for the wedding but nothing made me happier than when I got to see
Joel for the first time.
There is a sense of relief and calmness that comes over you
when you see your best friend on your wedding day. It brings everything full
circle and you just have a clear head of what this day is all about. It didn't matter that the flowers weren’t ready, or that the limousine never showed up,
or the fact that we had to fight to stay on schedule all day.
In that moment…. I just wanted to marry Joel.
